Here we are with 2 weeks left of index card a day. Thought of the week… I didn’t realize I liked green so much. If you’d ask me, it wouldn’t be listed as a favorite color, but definitely shows up a lot
The blog seems overrun with icad posts, it’s time I update you on what else I’m working on. First of all, I received my card from the Whimsical Garden Card swap hosted at Thriving Artist Studio facebook group. I received a card from Lynn Radford. I couldn’t have received a better suited card, look at the great stitching and buttons and flowers… everything that screams me!
The swap was hosted by Jill and she included this great little bonus card! Thank you Jill for hosting and for your generosity, I really enjoyed the swap!
Here is the card I sent out to the swap, anxious to see who received it and hope they love it.
I’m working on a new design for my SewRubyMoon Etsy shop. I’m working on some hand dying techniques and love this new slouchy messenger bag. Hope to have these listed in my shop soon!
I also have a work in progress that I haven’t decided if it’s done or not… As I look through all my icad cards, I noticed that I don’t use much black in my work (other than black pen). I decided to do a piece with a lot of black. Now that it’s in progress I keep wanting to lighten it up, but keep holding myself back. That’s why I’m not sure if it’s done. I also don’t know if I might need more texture in my flowers? I kind of like them as they are. I’ll just sit on this and ponder awhile. Do you ever find yourself looking at other’s work and think I don’t ever use that color but I sure like the way it looks? Or I like that technique, why don’t I use it on something? Partaking in the icad challenge has given me the chance to see hundreds of other artists takes on the same subject or medium. It’s been a real inspiration.
I was really inspired by this blog post by Dirty Footprints Studio. The video she posted really spoke to me. As I’ve been on vacation from my “real job” I realize how this Slowmo guy has it all figured out. Truly an inspiration to artists and everyone. Now I just need to figure out how to make “what you want to do” a reality… I don’t get to start with a fat bank account and lucrative career :)
Another week complete and still going strong!
Just stopping in to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July celebration. I’ve been working today and updated my Etsy shop with some new yoga mats and eye masks! Here’s the new fabric I added today. I’m off to celebrate with a family dinner and of course fireworks. Take care!
