On the 19th I hit a milestone, I gained my 100th {Heart} on Etsy for my RubyMoon Designs store!  That makes me feel so special, 100 people like my stuff! I’ve been working really hard this fall to build up my stores and turn it into a full time job (so I can quit the crappy one :-) this is a big deal to me!  I was going to wait until my 150th post here but I’m too excited, I want to celebrate 100 hearts instead <3
Ephemera Give A Way Time!

This time instead of giving away something I made, I’m giving away something YOU can make something with!  I have put together an ephemera package, some oldies, some not so old, all very cool, and all things that I would carry in my store! I think this will appeal to my new friends in the Blissful ATC swap and the new sisters I met in the Bloggerette Society who paper craft as well.  It’s always nice to share, and coming into some new supplies is always inspiring :)

Busy Creating Gifts this week!

October 22nd, 2010 | Posted by RubyMoonArt in Uncategorized - (3 Comments)

I made a couple gifts this week, one for a baby shower where they are going to be surprised by the gender, and another for a my 3 year old nieces birthday.  The baby shower was a no brainer project, I give hooded bath towels to everyone!  I always get compliments on how handy they are, they last forever, they don’t outgrow them for years and they are so darn cute!  Here are the gender neutral ones I came up with.

Baby soft white towels with spring green polka dot ribbon.  I learned make mine a little differently than most of the tutorial I found online and I’m thinking I need to work on a tutorial for the blog here.  Most of the tutorials I found have a long floppy hood and I’m not real fond of that.  These hoods work for newborns and still fit my 6 year old’s head. I will put that tutorial on the to-do list :)
Next party was for my 3 year old niece.  She’s such a cutie and she’s going to be a big sister soon!  What little girl doesn’t need a tutu and fairy princess wand?  I have made tutu’s before, one for me last halloween for my fairy witch costume and one for my daughter’s bff.  I bought the instructions from Angel Babes Tutu’s so I can’t share the secrets ;) but you can get them for yourself on her site!
Here’s how that turned out

I was toying around with making a head piece or some sort of accessory and I came across this tutorial for a wand. The perfect accessory!  Those tiny pieces of tulle gave me some fits but I got it!  Here’s that finished piece…

Of course she’s a happy little princess!  This just may become my standard 3 year old princess gift :)  So do any of you have favorite gifts to give?  I’d love to hear more ideas!

Join us Saturdays at tatertotsandjello.com for the weekend wrap up party!

Fantabulous Friday!

Doroty Tag book swap!

October 20th, 2010 | Posted by RubyMoonArt in Uncategorized - (3 Comments)

I got so excited when these arrived in the mail, I forgot to take pictures of them and share them here!  I was bummed that not everyone thought to put their contact info on their tags, I like to see where they came from.  But such is life, they are all gorgeous and make me happy! I put them all in a collage here and then found I missed one so it gets the privilege of having it’s “own” picture :)  You can click on the collage to get more details.

It was another great swap hosted by Karla, can’t wait for what she comes up with next!

Each year I give the grands an album of scrapbook pages I make throughout the year.  I’m way behind this year as I’ve been concentrating on my Etsy shops.  I’m only on June, but I’m catching up!  I’ve made all these pages in the last week or two!

For digital kit credits please see my Flickr Album
In this time I’ve also received my Dorothy tag book, made some baby gifts, bought some fabulous items from Etsy and will be back to share all this soon!

Pumpkin Patch

October 11th, 2010 | Posted by RubyMoonArt in Uncategorized - (1 Comments)

The kids and I spent 4.5 hours at Vala’s Pumpkin Patch today, it’s like the Disney World of Pumpkin Patches.  So awesome!  I had as much fun as the kids :)

New creations!

October 9th, 2010 | Posted by RubyMoonArt in Uncategorized - (3 Comments)

Hello All!  I just wanted to stop in here and show you what I’ve been making.  I had a custom order for a zebra slouch bag with hot pink lining.  It turned out so awesome! I need one for me :)

I also tossed in a little gift, an experiment of sorts.  I found this gathered clutch tutorial on Noodlehead done by the Dana at Made and I HAD to give it a shot.  It’s not perfect I’m still working on it.

My zipper corners are not as neat as Dana’s are so I tried it again…

This one matches my current purse :)  Still not good on those corners, but I think I figured out that my zippers are too long and my “zipper fabric tabs” are not long enough.  So I will try one more time… LOL, ok maybe a few more tries.  The bags are cute, fun and made with scraps!

And then I made myself a new yoga mat bag, I “needed” one in fall colors.  This is a new design I just came up with and perfected the pattern.  I’m going to be adding these to my shop soon!  And tonight I’m going to work on my “Dark” ATC for the Blissful ATC swap, it’s due next week eeek!
Happy Weekend everyone!

Parade, originally uploaded by amypytlik.
Jill D-zines has a new kit out that she made in collaboration with Correen Silke. I got to make a page with it, do you even know how long it’s been since I’ve scrapbooked?! Crazy long! Anyway it’s a beautiful kit and it’s available at Scrapdish here

It’s one of the surprisingly few pictures I took of my kids when we went to the Apple Jack festival in Nebraska City. I’m not sure why I didn’t take more! It was a very dreary day so they wouldn’t have turned out that well anyway.
Have a good week everyone!

Gigantic bubble fun!
I was so inspired by this post at Tatertots and Jello but at the time it was posted it was at least 110 degrees with 99% humidity here.  So now that it’s cooled off I wanted to give it a try!  And boy did we have fun! The second picture down my daughter’s face says it all, what a priceless picture :)  Can’t wait to scrapbook that one!  We only made a half batch and used a lot more glycerin than the recipe calls for.
Some tips…
A light breeze helps get them blowing, too strong of a breeze makes them pop :(
Put the sticks together when submerging in the solution and pull them out together, then slowly spread them apart and let the breeze do the work.

Click on the pix to make them bigger and see the whole effect

Give a shot, you will have fun!
